CT's Historic Gardens Day at Stanley-Whitman House

Come join us to celebrate CT's Historic Gardens! Stroll through our beautiful gardens, learn about the history behind each plant, and enjoy the serene atmosphere. This in-person event is perfect for garden enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to explore the rich botanical heritage of Connecticut.
Event Highlight: Historic interpreter Dennis Picard presents “Foodways: Herbal Concoctions, Tonics, and Balms,” exploring the preparation of natural remedies from culinary and medicinal herbs once cultivated in New England dooryard gardens. Picard’s engaging storytelling and historically grounded demonstrations link the past to the present, helping visitors understand how food, medicine, and color were made from the land itself.
Advance registration is encouraged but not required; walk-ins are welcome throughout the day. The last house tour begins at 3:00 PM.
